Kernel Power v46

Ever since upgrading my pr.1.2 N900 to use Titan's v.46, my phone has been experiencing various graphical glitches.

Nothing too serious, just a nearly unnoticable amount of ghost and a few distorted/random pixels.

Is this a known glitch? Should I upgrade to pr.1.3?

Sincerely,
ffha.

a glitch is nothing.i have several bugs with kernel-power and my phone can't reboot and power on while charging.
but just 2-6 months and the n9 is coming ;)

You should upgrade to PR1.3 regardless, it's a great edit: bug fixing update.

The other thing, I was told to stay on Titan's v42, last I checked that was the most recent stable one.

is the v42 kernel still in the repos?

Don't think so, but I was able to go to Titan's power kernel thread and download it from the first post. There's three packages you gotta get and use dpkg -i package.deb to install. I downgraded from v44 that way and it fixed so many problems.

Re: Kernel Power v46

I believe power kernel 41 and above are meant to be all used with 1.3. I don't know why anyone thinks it's a good idea not to upgrade to PR1.3 for this long, honestly. I blame the fact that it sometimes forces you to reflash and all that noise people make about how PR(pick any #) broke (any random devel or testing app they had installed, or just any app that wasn't meant to work with whatever the update changed).

But just so you know, I occasionally have left over pixels (In the app menu, not anywhere else) that appear upon boot and only go away with a reboot. Very rarely, but I've had it happen. So I think whatever the problem is, it isn't gonna go away with updating. (At the same time, keep in mind the Power kernels after 40 [≥41] incorporated the kernel changes brought in by 1.3 anyway. So you're running PR1.3 kernel with power patches with the rest of the OS being 1.2... so things can get wacky. The only reason I'd think that's not the case is if you've used the power41-power45 kernels without the same problems.)

I am pretty sure v42 is still the version in extras... if you disable the other repos you will find it

Re: Kernel Power v46

My previous kernel was .44, iirc.
My N900 ran that one fine, even better on 900mhz.

I hate updating...
OTA doesn't work for me, so flashing is the only stable method for me. This means I have to re-download and re-install all apps and restore all data from a backup.

What are the changes in pr.1.3?

Either way, I'm sorry to hear about your phone being a little messed up, atilla. I hope you're able to fix it soon.
