[Maemo5] MicroB plugin to play embeded videos in another application
 

As many users don't really appreciate the advantages of fully rendering web pages with working video content I have a suggestion:

What if we could make a plugin for MicroB, or even Mozilla (which really needs it), that could transfer a video stream to either Mplayer, the default player or even apps like ZouTube?

Rendering the page + streaming video content via a separate application would significantly decrease the waiting times and CPU usage.

Something simmilar has been proposed by jaysin22, here.

Dbus Switchboard could be used to change file associations and even add streams.

Help on how to identify those streams would be highly appreciated :)

You might be able to use Greasemonkey in combination with a script to run youtube and other videos in Media Player. I had something that worked on my N810 before.

I would but I haven't been able to get Greasemonkey working on the N900 so.. :/

That's odd, I just did :D

I also started a new thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=42813 that focuses on manually fetching the links, as well as reliable scripts.
Found one I very much like, but it's for megavideo only.

I got mplayerplugin to work.
I did a
apt-get install mplayerplug-in

I had to remove .mplayer directory to get sound working
mv /home/user/.mplayer /home/user/.mplayer.org

Now I can play video inside web with mplayer.

I can now play the videos in:

http://www.nrk.no/nett-tv/

They now start in mplayer

Didn't install for me...
"Couldn't find package mplayerplug-in"
