On Feb. 24th, Niels Breet reported 3574501 downloads from maemo.org as the first number ever given for this.

Today, 1 week later, the counter shows 4055035 downloads.

I thinks that's nice. Really.

Me too. Impressive figures. I would like to see a graph to show this ramping up.

It's just "extras", no testing and devel, right? Btw: when did the counter start, I can't find any hints?

That's absoutely awesome! If it goes on like this software developers can't ignore maemo any longer.

I believe it's Extras only, yes, not -testing and -devel.

And I believe they starting counting downloads from day 1 for Maemo 5.

It may be worth noting though that "downloads" can most probably only refer to all downloads, including the regular updates you get when you already have an application installed on your device. So if you installed only one single application from Extras and it got updated twice since then, you would be counted 3 times: 3 downloads instead of 1 application downloaded. That's technically correct and no less impressive, but it's just two different things and one has to know.

Nevertheless, half a million downloads in just one week in amazingly impressive! Either there are holidays all around the world and people got nothing better to do than playing with their n900 or the community (I count every single one owning a n900 to the community!) is growing like bunnies in spring ;)

numbers have at least -testing included too. Based on download peaks after updates it seems that 30-50% of downloaders are using -testing repository.

Where can you see that? Are there any graphs visualizing that? would be really nice to see. Only graph I saw, was on the original posting and just stating downloads of FM Radio Player.

Every application has it's own graph. extras-testing is included because new applications in extras already have download history. If you look for example Wormux there is peak one month ago when it the latest version was promoted to extras and new peak now when it was (finally) promoted to extras.

Who cares about a graph, that's an impressive number! I seriously think that this community can literally make anything happen so fast! Keep it up guys! :D Keep the awesome applications/tricks/tweaks/games coming! :D
