I must admit ...
it isn't about being unkind or impolitic...
to reinforce a negative imperative in you ...
that isn't my job...
that is yours and yours alone.

But you may lose people who must follow instruction you are trying to give ...across 20 posts.
As well ..you may lose people who get a little weary of trying to keep up with the essay...and have forgotten what the original statement was...
while coming to see the latest sentence that you just posted ...

And I for one will be among the first to make it the priority of LOWEST importance in coming online to find out what your latest sentence is ...
in the epic of whatever multi-post thesis you are doing....

The one asking me why I edit was the posting page, this forum, and I was annoyed for reason x for it. But you again praised the N810 which I own but have not yet started to use cause haven't got myself to follow some idiot proof instruction someone wise has made available on youtube how to make it a supertablet. With that super N810 I'm sure I can edit with ease and we can raise a toast together.

I love this community, and thanks Maemish!
Community is why Maemo has stayed so strong, and it is easy to write a script into a real app or run just some python in terminal.
Now I just have to ward off the panic of using an interim 2g dumbphone.

It does NOT sound like the broken USB issue( I have had this with 2 N900s) as nothing will happen at all except maybe when you wiggle the cable right, and that only the first few times.

BME re-calibrate:
-In terminal type(dont remember if you need gainroot or sudo, I think not)
Code:

gconftool-2 -s -t int /apps/osso/status-area-applet-battery/use_design_capacity 0
Above saves lot of frustration with getting completely BS values posing as correct, when battery gauge is not calibrated (at all 0 like, lost calibration data due to battery out of device for too long and dead bupbat).

-Reboot
-charge to green light
-let run until battery dies(battery is now calibrated, dont rush or you will end up having to redo, last few hundred mA should be spent with backlight , CPU, and things like WiFi off)

I get: "gconftool: command not found" even when I try it with sudo.

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

Hi I just recovered a N900 with broken usb to reliable charging.

1) Took it apart (easy peasy)
2) Pulled off the sd card module and taped it to the back (why is that glued anyway?)
3) Took some cotton swabs for insulation and taped around the usb port so hot air gun wouldn't fry other components.
4) Blasted the micro usb port with 450c hot air gun with fine nozzle, while clamped with pressure.
5) Kneaded a bit of epoxy putty around the cleaned sides of the usb port, with a cable inserted to avoid gunking up the inside.
6) After hardening, Used a dremel to grind away the blobs of expoxy that interfered with keyboard and case fit.

Now i have reliable charging, but unfortunately no USB-data. Better than nothing, and it was easy.
