Nokia n810 only for specific tasks

Hi there all.

At first I wanted to post new thread in OS2008 Diablo, but after some short thinking I decided to post it here, why?

The n810 is coming my way. Good shape. I never had this specific unit, but got along with nokia n800, which is almost the same (almost).

But this is not the point. I want this unit (n810) to do only few things for me:

-Had big, readable screen - Done
-Had real, hardware keyboard - Done
-Can send sms via phonelink - (N800 does that, so I will assume, that N810 does it too) - so, Done
-Had facebook and skype chat plugin - ?
-Can be underclocked - (I got some dirty workaround, but only for maemo) - so, partially Done.
-Will still got some resources to play music while I'm chatting - Done.
-Will last few hours (6-8) of excessive use - (With underclocking should be at least possible) - Done

As you could see just now, I'm "crafting" device for chatting. I already got some experience with skype turning off support for older devices and facebook turning his back on xampp.

So this leave me where? At very start...

The device met all needed points, but leaves me with those chat plugins. So here comes my question - How hard would it be to write own plugins? I only need the line chat station - no calling, only writing through facebook, skype and gsm network.
Would it be easier to just change the OS for one that supports mentioned social media? - If so, which one? Andrioid runs better of windowsill than it does of n800 so I will asume that n810 will do exactly the same. And it's fine, I wont be installing this OS even if it runs smoother than maemo :p

I'm not sure about OS option, I expirience quick battery drain when running easy debian, so there is some doubt about "mature" operating systems. - Remember that usage time of at least 6 hours must be met.

The Skype protocol is not an open specification and would require reverse engineering. It probably also has some form of encryption and client checking to prevent unofficial clients from connecting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skype_protocol

Facebook uses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MQTT and you might be able to find some opensource clients for linux.

Yes, before you posting I was reading the same article on wiki and bunch of other useful/wasteful stuff. I reached the point when it all seems too easy, probably because I know very little about arm architecture yet. The stairs will start to grow after I actually start to do something. But, first, need some time to learn :)

This is first result in google so it was hard to miss it :) But there is surprisingly a lot available but, yes, the mosquitto seems to be closer to mobile open-source devices.
