No sound throughout the OS
This happened out of no where, but I have no audio. It's happened before and the only fix I could think of was to reflash.
Need this fixed as soon as possible, trying not to reflash, assuming that it's not a hardware issue cause it wasn't dropped or anything and this exact thing has happened before. Also, when trying to play audio I get "Unsupported format". Don't know what happened this time, but last time it did this, there was an update to something gstreamer-related and I apt-get upgraded, upon a reboot, it happened. Not sure why this is doing it this time. |
Re: No sound throughout the OS
This same thing happened to me this morning. I had to change a setting in profiles then save, then reboot to get it back.
I am trying to remember what updates I did. Sound is back now though. |

Although unlikely, you guys didn't happen to use my patches did you? It is found in this thread...Although I have removed for three days now.

Re: No sound throughout the OS
This may related to one of the Power Kernel update that just got released. Unless someone can correct me?

Re: No sound throughout the OS
Haven't applied the patches, and even after power kernel I had sound.

Re: No sound throughout the OS
Ah thank you very much, so it seems that the problem is gstreamer, hope someone could guide you there, as I don't have it installed.
Try typing this comman into xterminal: start pulseaudio |
Re: No sound throughout the OS
"sh: start not found"
Not an encouraging sign. |
Re: No sound throughout the OS
I just ran "pulseaudio", permission denied.
So I ran pulse-audio --system as root. Got a lot of garbage but what stood out was Unable to connect to D-Bus. Edit: I don't really have the time to troubleshoot random linux issues, I get enough of those on my notebook. I'm just gonna reflash it. Thanks for the effort though. |

start pulseaudio as root too? I ask because it's the only way you could have permission denied. |
