(poll) Nokia n9 : are you buying one ?

the its clear by now that the n9 is the n900 story all over again, well **** it i'll sure enjoy taking that wave all over again, it was an awesome ride with the n900, and i bet its going to be way better with the n9 ......

now after you vote, please vote here for the same poll on engadget.com, thousands of users already voted ......

now, before we start don't forget that meego is far away from dead, and it will still be the main os for intel devices, so apps will always be coming :D and software updates as well, meego isn't even close to death ........

the n9 will hit certain places only, and it will miss major markets arround the world, what does that means ? Elop is trying to cover up for his mistakes, we all know that the n9 is going to be a hit, but Elop is trying his best to prevent it from beeing one, because he now knows that meego is way way way way better than WP7, and windows was a bad choice, but he can't go back now, and now he's trying to cover up his mistakes .......

well we all know that the n900 isn't a smartphone, its a computer that fits in your pocket, the n9 is both a smartphone and a mobile computer, its the best of both words, think about it for a sec, it handles multitasking better than a pc, and it fully works in single hand mode.............

the device is fully open sourced so yes there is a terminal, and the events view is open sourced so we are going to end up with widgets over there , the device is themable, fennec with flash 10.x will be avaible (note that fennec is the main browser for meego :D ), it can run android apps, its smooth as ****, and you can manage your tasks on it faster than any other device ........

look at the n900 now ( after pr1.2, pr 1.3, cssu, swappolube, all the speed patches, theme customizer, and overclocking....... ) and think for a moment, if the n9 started with that awesome os, imaging how is it going to end up :D

and its way too hard for me to leave this awesome community :D

cheers guys .

yes, keeping my n900 as primary web browser and messaging(might change with Fennec on n9)..

I don't have it yet. Only a few devs have received them so far (jaffa, atilla77, maybe some others). I think the specs are fairly well known, so I don't see any problem discussing them. They cannot be sold. Click the link in my sig if you want to know how to get one. :D ;)

I'll keep my N900 and if possible get an N950 dev kit.
If I *don't* get chosen as one of the lucky few to get a N950, I'll keep with my n900 for a few years, till something else decent comes around, something with:
720p display
Preferably x86 processor
Hardware keyboard
Open bootloader
Linux-based OS: Debian based is preferably(Kubuntu mobile maby?), Meego, or(as a backup option) Android.
(wp7, ios are both *completely* off the table).

Re: (poll) Nokia n9 : are you buying one ?

Doubtful now. Lack of Flash support even in Fennec, potential lack of distribution in my market (North America is still unconfirmed) and I think the people in our office have decided that Maemo is no longer an viable OS - iOS, Android, WP7 so far are confirmed to be supported by us in the near future.

Intel AppUp is on my personal radar, which might mean x86 MeeGo development in the future.

And due to my total disbelief that Nokia would have gone to WP7 that I have to purchase a Nokia WP7 device. Great... me and my big mouth.

Re: (poll) Nokia n9 : are you buying one ?

there's no maybe option in there. I really want the n9 for its power and all but I need to test out its keyboard. Its also pissing me off a little that the n8 had hdmi out and n9 doesn't, and finally the price issue and HUGE issue. I want the 64gb boy do I want it; but 750 for a phone is insanity. Not only is it insanity it's not coming to the US. I'm not paying close to a grand for a phone when unless I can buy it in the US and hopefully play with it at the Nokia store here in NY. I love my n900 and will gladly stay with it if I have to wait. Hopefully cssu updates keep coming and i'll be ok.
