is our N900 any Match to Samsung Galaxy S ?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if any of you guys have got your hands on the New Samsung Galaxy S and when you compare it with our Demon, How does our Beast(N900) score ??

My Brother has just got one, so right now is constantly in front of my eyes which makes me ask you guys this. Its claim to Fame is the Super Amoled Screen with Android 2.1 and Boy !! that thing indeed has a superb screen. I mean what a screen !! It is just brilliant, Fantastic what a treat to watch !! It feels like a Rich PLASMA or a LCD TV and with the slick Android 2.1 it makes it a Mind Blowing deal. So what does our N900 LOBBY has to say on how does our Beast stands against it. Has anyone dig in to the Pros and Cons. If yes, please share it with all of us atleast I am very curious to find out!!

Cheers !

Oh dear god.

Are advertisements permitted here?

Why not compare to something that came two years ago?

Does Galaxy S have HW keyboard?

How about using search. We already have this topic.

Galaxy S:

Screen
+ Colours: Quite the difference.
+ Gorilla glass: The N900 is scratch prone.
- Not resistive: Some prefer accuracy, pressure sensitivity, stylus.

OS
- Dalvik: Nuff said.

Software
+ App store: Apps.
- Dalvik: Prevents application porting.

I'd say the differences are a matter of what do you want it to be. For some, the N900 is a much more powerful tool. I do not doubt the Galaxy S is a much more polished smartphone.

I'm sure there are many threads on the forum regarding this, could be why you won't get any serious responses.

But what comparisons are you looking for?
Are you looking to compare it as a phone vs a phone, or a tablet/computer vs a phone.
Or hardware vs software?

Phone v phone, I'd say the Galaxy would win.
Phone vs tablet, well you can't compare that.

My friend has the Galaxy S, and from a hardware perspective it does outshine the N900, especially the screen which is to die for.
It has alot of amazing features that if I was looking for just a phone, would certainly make me choose this one.

But I would not pass-up my N900 regardless of the hardware specs of the Galaxy.
For me, the Galaxy is a (smart)phone, where as the N900 is a mini-computer.

No, I wouldn't say it like that. Different tools for different markets. If you think the Ipad is superior to an Slate PC, the Galaxy is right for you. If you think a Slate PC is superior to an Ipad, the N900 might be for you.

To dumb it down: one's an ultra-ultraportable PC with mediocre phone capacities. The other one's a top quality phone with mediocre PC capacities. Do you want an internet device or a ringer?
