Some new hints about Nokia Dali device

I've just spotted this interesting post on the meego-community mailing list by Philippe De-Swert from Nokia:
http://lists.meego.com/pipermail/mee...er/002993.html
which contains info on the Nokia "Dali", which I believe is the codename for the MeeGo-Harmattan device often referred to as N9.

No customisable home screen?
No Adobe Flash?

Interestingly Marko Ahtisaari talks about having customisable
homescreens and lots of buttons... Let that now be all the stuff we have
started to strip of Dali... :(
We also dropped flash now in favour of a browser with a more "iPhone"
like "experience".
And I don't consider disappearing scrollbars and removal of close
buttons useful innovations.
Also trying to force users to give up personal info (cherryui)
See for example the nice threads on our own maemo.org site

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=53565

Is a bad move. And as long as our development environment is impossible
to use (the new security framework can hopefully be disabled) we won't
get apps eithere. Regardless if ovi finally starts to be usable or not.

Fact is, as long a we keep on this path of creating an "iPhonY", Nokia
is doomed.

Sorry for being so negative, but management really needs to start to
understand that all the Nokia is doomed articles are not far off the
mark and we need to change. Nokia is a company with talent and real
capabilities. It is just not using it.

Cheers,

Philippe

fcking scary stuff. Hope that this ainīt true. Would be pure madness but on the other hand its in "line" with what Nokia has manged to do with Maemo restarts and overall ADHD behavior.

Middle management doing its work I guess. 40-50 years old guys putting their "best" over there :|

Probably last day at work for that dude :|

I personally don't care about Flash. Looking forward to watching it die, preferably along with all the other bloated, crappy Adobe software products.

If this is true I am never going to buy a Nokia device again.

Any software feels/looks crappy and bloated when used improperly.
Good luck with all the shitty HTML5 ads and apps.

And to be replaced by what exactly?

I don't need a replacement, except for embedded video, and HTML5 suits me fine for that purpose.

This is what I always ask people that tell me they don't want/need Flash. But I sometime have a hard time expressing myself because English is not my first language.

I know Flash is not perfect, nothing is.
But show me something better and I'll drop Flash in a heart beat.

The Flash CS IDE is crappy and bloated no matter how you use it. And have you ever used Adobe Reader in Linux? Piece. Of. Crap.

Cool.

Now imagine that you have a website where you post your own videos / short films, whatever.
Explain to me how will you protect your content from being stolen from you with HTML5.
