Re: [Announce] Rocket

Hi ukhamitov,

Purchased Rocket a few hours ago after reading about it on MNB... A few issues I'd like to highlight:

- The avatar in the feed-screen is in squircircles but in the app, squares are used instead

- Using default twitter client if you open the client and new tweets come in, they are automatically pushed to the feed-screen too; this doesn't happen with Rocket

- What is the interval for updating? I couldn't find any update feed-screen interval; also does this mean within the app itself there is no update interval but auto-retrieval which is actually very good

- If you open a tweet from the feed-screen with Rocket closed, it takes sometime for Rocket to open (understandable as default Twitter client takes time too) but the tweet that opens up has missing avatar with some rendering for the "via XXX" being wrong too; you can see it below:

Other than the above everything else seems very nice :)

Thanks for the great work!

Looks nice indeed.

Re: [Announce] Rocket

Looks very nice. What about identi.ca/status.net support? Is that something that you might add in the future or is it planned to stay Twitter-only? Ideally we'd have two accounts (1 Identi.ca and 1 Twitter) set up then, but even if you just support a single service, one could use Rocket for Identi.ca and the Twitter app for Twitter.

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Great app!! Already better than the stock app.

Only thing is that I can't select location sending while composing a new tweet. If I select the always send location option in the settings menu it doesn't seem to work either.

Otherwise great app, thanks for your work!

sent you an email regarding yhe feedback on rocket. This have hige potential indeed

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Is it possible to have it only update with the default refreshing of the event feed? Can't the daemon bet set only to start running when the phone auto refreshes the feed itself, just like the normal twitter feed?

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

1 Attachment(s)
The display of feeds on the event page should<name> on Twitter rather than just <name>.

Edit:
In addition, maybe i suggest that the icon on the Low power screen be similar to the icon on the Status bar when received a notification, and the icon on the status bar probably would be more cohesive with N9 if it's blue in colour rather than white, plus it grabs the attention easier, especially when the alarm is set.

And the avatar on the event page, some blank (See Fakeselop), some not, I'm not entirely sure the pattern

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Hey.

Is there something specific I need to do to integrate the app in the events-feed? I've enabled the option and tried to play around the settings alot, but the tweets just won't appear on the feed

Vromoth 2012-12-19 10:27

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Tweets appear as Rocket updates itself. It will only post tweets posted after you activated the push to feed option. Just let it run awhile and it will start posting them to your feed.

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

It used a lot of swap memory

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Can't seem to get it to update the events feed. Nor does it seem to update itself dependably. Otherwise it seems to be a very nice application.

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Is there a trick to skipping to the top of the timeline? If I have been using Twitter on my desktop computer all day, it takes a couple of minutes to scroll past the several hundred tweets in Rocket that I've already read.

Other than that I'm finding it to be a great app!

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

After using Rocket I started to get a a number of junk mentions from .ru sites.

With other clients I do not have these broblems.

Similar experiences?

Edit. Did not take long after this comment and a a new one arrived...

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

are there any updates in the works?

this is a great app already, but a few things should be ironed out:

- event feed updates should be synchronized with the phone like stock twitter
- some avatars missing
- low power screen logo is a bit to big
- cant login to my pocket account

thanks!

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Great app, I love it. Please continue to support it :)

One minor issue:

On the Event home screen when showing a tweet it would be great if it said "Random twitter person On Twitter", just like how the stock facebook one shows "DS McGuire On Facebook" :)

Thanks :)

Its ok. And If You want to push tweets to events this does it.
Consumes less memory than Qn but notifications are not as good.

They can still be relevant developing this further for todays users and coming platforms...

kai_en 2013-03-09 18:53

This thread actually felt like a bait and switch sort of app promotion thread. He came in to promote his app is in Nokia Store and ask us to try and provide feedback but no longer participate the dialogue after just a few pages, 3 or 4 pages AFAIRemember

In addition, I requested to join his beta program on 2 different occasion, he said ok and will share via dropbox but that didn't happened either even when I politely ask again after a few days of wait.

praveenchand 2013-03-09 21:04

This was a kind of cheap marketing. He benifited from TMO @ a cost of 3 posts.

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

This application is a decent one among others based on my experience. The very unfortunate thing is that the developer of this application quit supporting it any more!

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Ok, this app is just qneptuna with no instagram support.
Or did i missed something ?

Vromoth 2013-04-12 19:00

It also integrates into the default news feed. Otherwise qneptune is smoother, faster and has more features.

Drekkie 2013-04-12 19:56

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

So is this the only twitter client that currently integrates with the Events feed?

I've tried Twimgo, Qneptunea, and have settled so far on Tweetian, but when I last checked, none integrated into the feed which would be a huge win. I'm not sure I want to invest money in a dead app to find out.

Would be great if the Devs of these other apps could get that integration working.

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

There was a uppdate promise but right now interresting is does this support new Twitter API?

knobtviker 2013-04-13 06:58

Afaik no.

-via Maemo Talk app

turbovomit 2013-04-13 09:11

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

i will never buy an app again.
This app looks based on qneptuna sources, with less features.
Waste of money...

Re: [Announce] Rocket - Twitter Client

Currently this application works fine even after March....if it works then i think this is the best twitter application just because of event feed integration.

Yes but time is running out?

API v1.1 migration period

When we release version 1.1 of the API we will simultaneously announce the deprecation of v1.0. From the day of the release, developers will have six months to migrate applications from v1.0 to v1.1. For developers who are already making authenticated calls to the API, this migration will be relatively easy, and should only involve updating the API endpoint, and testing your application's behavior against the new rate limiting policies. For developers whose applications are accessing the API without authenticating, you will need to update your applications to use OAuth.
https://dev.twitter.com/blog/changes...to-twitter-api

knobtviker 2013-04-15 06:42

This app may appear similar to QNeptunea. It does integrate into Feed and ShareUI but it uses 10 times less bandwith.
Still not switched to 1.1. :(
