N9 no longer charges

Hi All,
I have recently transferred my N9 internals to new (genuine) housing as the original was quite worse for wear.
After this, the phone worked perfectly, but stopped charging!
None of the tips I have picked up from this site help, even connecting to my PC, so I'm thinking that I may have damaged the USB port or some other connection when moving the internals?
I am in Australia (Melbourne) and was wondering if there are any recommended specialists here who can repair this (an not brick the phone of course). Plenty of non-recommended corner shops of course but I don't trust them.
Thanks.

Suggest you double check metal plate over battery and the little metal strip that you have to rotate down to seat it correctly. This post may be of interest as similar symptoms to yourself: https://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=96702

What do those metal parts do?

Also, the area around the USB socket seems to be magnetised. Is that normal?

In stock Nokias it wasn't magnetized, but now at least 3 of most often used n9s are magnetized there. Isn't that related to the speaker?

How can the speaker cause the area around the USB port to become magnetized when the speaker is on the bottom of the phone while the USB port is on the top?

The phone has two speakers. The one on the top is used during a phone call, for example.
I am not convinced it is close enough and has a magnet strong enough to magnetize the USB port though.

There is a magnet to keep the usb door shut.

Are you sure about that? Since the USB door is totally plastic IIRC...

I've just checked mine. It is plastic with a thing metal foil stuck to it on the inside.
