Installing Skype still possible on N810?

I have an N810 here with a fresh install of the Diablo firmware -- updated with the Community Support repo. All is working well... except that the Nokia repository seems to be long gone and I can't seem to find a working set of Skype packages.

Does anyone know of an existing repository where I can grab these?

Or, heck, does the latest version of Skype for the N8x0 still even work? :)

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer here!

Oh yea...still works forthe n8x0.
Other devices than maemo nit's aren't so lucky.
To be on the safe make sure you already have a current skype account at least from another device so you just sign in..and do not "sign up" for an account on the n8x0 directly... I do not know what would happen essentially ...to a sign up service that technically doesn't exist...who knows what imps may be unleashed.

also I suggest the gronmayer meta repo.
with particular note to the repos ....
ie- it is important to make sure it is done properly...
I spent a great deal of time with his meta repos.
including hunting down perceived "dead" repos..
check my sig. , lotta good stuff there.
pm me if you encounter any obstacles at all.

Btw - Love your work man.

Hey, thanks for the reply, man!

I went over to http://www.gronmayer.com/it/ but it was looking like the only repo with Skype in it is the old Nokia catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/ one.

BTW: Your lists of resources is incredibly helpful! I haven't used my N810 in quite a while... really enjoying having it with me again. Will even more so once I get Skype working. :)

Haven't heard back or seen him here since..

No reason he wouldn't be sorted out now...

Yeah, but weren't you first asked to install skype? When I click on skype icon from menu it's asking me if I want ro install it, when I click "yes" it says it could not find this package.

Sorry, my bad, it wants to add Nokia Catalogue, but it doesnt work for years :p

Re: Installing Skype still possible on N810?

I haven't touched that "install skype button" which comes on device.
I have only done it via the catalogues.
Never had a prob with it.
If you can't install it via app. man.
And if all you need are those skype bits.
I have 'em tucked away.
pm me and I can find them and get them to you.

also when I've used skype the last few years it has only been on diablo turbo installs...since turbo has better battery management and cool shet etc... :D
If you aren't using diablo turbo... but just stock diablo...that may be a factor. Not sure.

Re: Installing Skype still possible on N810?

Hi there.

Lately I recieved skype packages and installed them correctly on my n800 (Diablo Turbo 5.2010-33-1).

Problem is when I try to run it from icon the skype process appears and disappears after a second and nothing else seems to be hapening.

When I try to root run it from console it says about a missing file, cant figure out what it is:

Code:

/home/user # skype
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libuiw.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/home/user #
