So, I followed your post exactly

I'm able to get in but using xephwm

and the icon doesn't work

I'm really grateful...don't get me wrong, but I want to know what went wrong?

By some reason, inside your debian, the file "/usr/bin/suxephwm" has wrong permissions. To fix it :
- enter debian;
- type :
[root@chroot: ~] chmod 755 /usr/bin/suxephwm
Now suxephwm and the icon (after the fix) should work.

worked like a charm.

Thanks

However, when I go in via the icon, the "Start" does not open, and all of my files or on the desctop

First I'm greeted with an error message, then my files on desktop

I also have the above messages and LXDE & Debian work nice.

Try to reboot your N9, then, in Terminal :
$ opensh
# aegisctl -s
# debian
root@chroot: ~] suxephwm

Sorry. there was an error in the step-by-step post #57 for using Debian with Inception.

The line (as root in Terminal) :
# chmod 777 ./debian
was wrong, the correct is :
# chmod 777 /.debian

Please try it. I hope that now it will work.
