N9 "Device not working properly"

Hello guys, and once again my N9 seems to bricked and again it's after setting an alarm and turning it off last night.

I didn't change any settings, didn't install anything at all. Just set an alarm for 7:45 and turned it off. Now when i try to turn it on it gives me this message:

Any ideas what to do?

Are you ready to go into open mode?

then we can fix malf state!

edit: has it had a few reboots in a loop?

yep i got it into the open mode, then I got the Nokia logo with a wrench below it and nothing(waited 2 minutes), so i turned the phone off and it came back on(as it's plugged to the pc) and the same message came on. Am i doing something wrong?

Re: N9 "Device not working properly"

what you did was rd-mode not open mode ;)

open mode is that horrible warranty void message you get at every boot-up although it can be disabled from regular mode first...

in your case it might be worth to follow the link in my eariler post and see if you need help on any of the steps :)

Re: N9 "Device not working properly"

Well you can use any compatible kernel (i.e. n950) on the n9 and it just puts it into open mode (i.e. disabling the a** that is aegis :D)

Its tried and tested so don't worry...

ok and last question will a virtual debian machine work for this? as the commands are interminal

Re: N9 "Device not working properly"

yup a virtual debian machine should do the job too...

Just make sure the usb port gets detected in the VM and you are good to go...

i feel so stupid does the debian flasher "flasher_3.12.1_amd64.deb" which i just downloaded have to be installed?

Re: N9 "Device not working properly"

Yes you are using 64-bit right [as the flasher you have downloaded is 64-bit]? Just double click on it and if you are using Ubuntu it will open Ubuntu Software Centre to install it...

if you do it via terminal just dpkg -i /path/to/flasher*

flasher gets integrated into the system unlike windows so you won't have to cd to flasher's directory after installation just need to cd to where the kernel and initrd are downloaded to [most likely /home/USER/Downloads/]...
