Automatically used networks revert to Manually used
Hi
After using Settings / Reset / Restore settings, I lost all of my known wifi networks (not surprising). Connecting to a wifi network works fine, and I can set the new wifi network as 'Automatically used' and it remains connected. If I leave the range of the wifi connection, my N9 automatically connects to my mobile network connection. However, when I return to this wifi network, my N9 automatically connects to the wifi network briefly, then disconnects and connects to my mobile network connection. If I check the properties of the wifi connection, I can see it is now set to 'Manually used'. Before doing 'Restore settings' my wifi connections would remain 'Automatically used'. Any ideas, please? Update 2016-01-18: connectivity-test.ext.nokia.com is back online since 2016-01-04. If you are still experiencing the problem, delete the wific connection and create it again. Update 2016-06-07: connectivity-test.ext.nokia.com is offline again. Solution, add the following line to /etc/hosts: Code:
213.128.137.20 connectivity-test.ext.nokia.com |

Re: Automatically used networks revert to Manually used
Does really the setting revert to 'manually used'?
I guess I have the same/similar issue since a few weeks only. I disconnected from WiFi on purpose, hereby setting this connection to manually used. Of course I set it back to automatic. But since then it blinks as if connecting but then stays disconnected (I did it already a few times earlier). So no idea why I have this behaviour now. To get connected I open mail and update. This makes the N9 connect and stay connected (as I also have a SIP account in background). So any input greatly welcomed. |
Same thing happens. To keep connected i first connect to WiFi and later set it to connect automatically. It stays there as long as i am in range i guess.
i had done this a while back, but i found it back in manual networks now when i went out of range maybe. Also if i turn off internet, it becomes manually used. |
Re: Automatically used networks revert to Manually used
Not sure whether this problem related to Microsoft server being currently down which is currently affecting Symbian Belle devices; see explanation by abi99(2) in third post, although do not know whether Harmattan does similar poll on server.http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/m...3-9c5bf32c8214

I can see my N9 trying to connect to 191.238.96.69 shortly before it disconnects the wifi and switches to the mobile network connection. |

Re: Automatically used networks revert to Manually used
is it necesary to automatic connection?
Maybe use openrepos.net? ;) I didnt have a server |
Re: Automatically used networks revert to Manually used
Hmm, maybe.
But I remember this server has been shut down months ago. Right? Or not? So I did not think of that one at all. As, if so it should affect mobile network connection, too? And iirc that server connectivity-test.ext.nokia.com was used for detecting a free internert connection orbif you are behind a proxy needing login (but I may be wrong here). |
