P.S. Is there a reason why Mozilla isn't going through the Extas-Devel process like everyone else has to?

Because they're using their own repository. You don't have to go through the extras-devel process, it's just highly recommended to make everything work well. Mozilla opted to set up their own repository, so they avoid having to deal with the extras builder.

Well, I know that.

What I mean is... Since Maemo Devices are working hand-in-hand on Fennec and other Mozilla-based items (e.g., browser add-ons, etc.), I was wondering why Mozilla isn't adhering to Maemo application release "guidelines." It seems like this would have been a request from Maemo and something that Mozilla would have been happy to oblige.

I just installed it to try it out.
It's about 10-11MB.

It's a very "pretty" browser...but man..does it ever SUCK for actually USING it as a broswer!!

I wanted to kill myself after 15 minutes of using it.
Never been so happy to uninstall anything.

Would you please say why? I'm sure Mozilla would also like to know.

Also can anyone say if it would be reasonable on an N800 without pulling out a bluetooth keyboard?

Funny. My experience is different.

This version is very snappy. Touch-interaction is working much better than previously. Pages are loading faster, zoom works good (especially with double-taps), and I have found very few "drawing" errors.

My only (main) gripe at this point is the size of the install! But, I'm sure that will be fixed by the RC, at least.

There are still a couple of minor UI inconsistencies as well, but nothing that can't be ignored for now.

P.S. maemo.org looks great in it!

1) It opens slow
2) It has no scroll-bar to the right,
3) It crashed twice
4) It was often impossible to tell when/why the virtual keyboard was showing
5) The need to scroll to the far right to go back
6) ...

Not my comments: "doesnt understand stateful-shift for passwords on Maemo or even apostrophe in text input fiields"

All I can remember...the whole experience was less than pleasant.

True. This will most likely be fixed. (And, actually, after opening it the first time, each subsequent launch was quicker.)

But it has pretty robust and smooth kinetic scrolling by dragging your finger.

I haven't experienced this yet. Do you have specific URLs?

Weird. Again, I have not seen this.

In terms of screen real estate, I was ok with this. But, I can see why it would annoy some people. Someone could probably write a finger gesture add-on to fix this. ;)

I went to Pavlov's site to download GraffitiTwit and somewhere on the road there it froze. Worked the next time. I got a raster/checkered pattern over the screen.
