Meamo 5 Security update
 

Yesterday I got software update notification "Maemo 5 Security update" version 21.2011.38-1.004.

Has anybody heard about it?

Fixing security certificates that were compromised. Not sure if I should have done it but in Catalogues->All (advanced) in FAPMAN I got bunch of maemosec updates (CSSU were not supposed to install those? or maybe those were CSSU equivalents). Except for Catorise freaking out everything seems to be working fine (someone should set up a site with compromised cert for a quick test, really)

if you have CSSU installed, dont install security update

What about maemosec updates from advanced category in FAPman? Do I need to flash?

URGENT: I just flashed my N900 and noticed the new update. So my question is, Can I install this security update and then Install the CSSU?? thanks in advance.

If you just flashed you're perfectly set up to test and report back. 5min is all it takes :)

i am on the same road , have flashed my device three days back and updated the new version of maemo , but so far haven't faced any change as there was no changelog :s
can any one list the changelog so i can test then please ?

Yeah you're right but I don't want to take any risk that's why I asked it. I don't know what would happen to the Phone!! Experienced and no afraid users are required for this thing! :D

As a security update fixing fraudulent certificates it is not easy to test, unless you know a scammer page that uses those. Like I said earlier it would really make sense to create a page just for checking certs (they are leaked anyway) for testing, especially for CSSU people. Nokia update was tested thoroughly, everyone knows that. Community updates don't normally show up in that state (no offense, but lack of QA is a weak point)
