[Fremantle] Rest In Peace: CellID alarms. We need a tester for Harmattan

I'm continuing development of Rest In Peace app started by Girish Gopi.
If you have extras-devel enabled, just
Code:

# apt-get install restinpeace
The code is available at
https://code.launchpad.net/~xintx-ua/+junk/restinpeace (Note: "junk" is a generic word launchpad uses for branches without a project, it's not my fault :) ).

Please post any bug reports and feature requests here.

Also, we need someone with Harmattan to try running it and posting the results.

Re: Rest In Peace app: restinpeace is now updated in -devel

I've uploaded a new version to the -devel repository. Wait until it reaches 0.2.2 and test it :)

Lovely! I hadn't heard of it, so let me just paste the description from my-maemo.
Quote:

RestInPeace is an application that sounds an alarm when the phone registers itself with a pre-defined GSM/WCDMA CellID.

Useful when travelling on a train or bus - set it to ring an alarm when the phone logs in to a cellID located at the destination of your trip and you can safely fall asleep.

An alarm based on location rather than time is better because it'll always alert you in the correct time, even if the train arrives earlier or late.

Excellent. Which phone/OS is your target?

Maemo 5/N900. Unfortunately, I don't have N9 and don't plan to buy it. But you can try launching the rip.py after copying it and rest_in_peace_gui.py to some directory. If it works then I'll try to package it :)

Thanks, I'll try this over the next couple of days at points along my commute.

does the app need to be opened for the alarm to go off or it runs in the background?

It has to be running. Maybe in the future it will change, but I'm not planning it yet.
Update: But it doesn't mean it has to be active. Just don't close it :)

It doesn't seem to pass the ID to the gui --
