Installing Tencent QQ Java Version

I am a British expat currently working in China and I use the PC version of QQ and various online translation services to help me communicate to colleagues. I used to have a Nokia N97 that had a Symbian QQ client but enough said about that phone the better. After upgrading to the Nokia N900 I haven't looked back, brilliant device...except for trying to get QQ to work.

I've tried using the various methods to get QQ integrated into 'Conversations' but QQ bricks my account within seconds of logging in. It then occurred to me that if I can install an official version of QQ then having my account blocked probably wouldn't happen.

I looked at the Java client available from Tencent and have researched and installed MicroEmulator and Icedtea6 onto my N900. Using the GUI of MicroEmulator, I load the QQ Java client but it only displays the startup screen and doesn't go any further.

I've read the install instructions for Opera Mini to see if I could learn anything there as it too is a Java app but it's a bit beyond me...a lot of talk about Terminal and placing files in certain locations...I am a newbie for Linux and Maemo.

Could anyone offer some step by step instructions and point me in the right direction? First post, so please be gentle...I'm not even sure using the QQ Java client in this way is even feasible...?

Any help gratefully appreciated...and thanks in advance.

Thanks to both for such quick replies - very much appreciated. I should have mentioned in my first post that I have tried both portals and currently use w.qq.com but with a lot of trouble. I'm located in the mountains in Yunnan Province and only have a 2G signal when away from home or office. Loading a full web page (mobile optimised or not) can take an age.

I am still keen to see if the QQ Java client could be got to run on the N900 via Java emulation and any help with this is also much appreciated.

Many thanks again.
