Wow, a quarter century at IBM and then jumps ship to Apple for one year and then the unenjoyment line. Not exactly the glide path to retirement one would hope for. I hope he held on to his IBM stock.

Doubt he's gonna struggle to find a job. He worked on the Jesus phone, consumer electronics companies will be sending head hunters out for this guy.

Perhaps he'll work alongside a decent antenna engineer at Nokia.

And don't forget the current meltdown at HP/Palm. Peter Skillman (11 years at Palm, designed the Pre), Michael Abbot, Lynn Fox, Matias Duarte, Rich Dellinger, and Caitlin Spaan have all left HP/Palm.

As it stands, there's a lot of shuffling going on right now.

Doesn't seem to be instrumental to Apple or the iPhone.

He came in at the end of 2008 just before Jobs took a very long medical leave. I'm guessing he was just on an extended trial period.

It's all PR spin. Smoke and mirrors. Typical Apple. Someone had to take the fall and it certainly wasn't going to be Steve.
