The writer is a complete ***** - hes hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

Maemo has been used on Nokia 770, N800, N810 and N900 - thats FOUR devices.

Nokia has not abandoned Maemo - they are building a new core for it i.e. Meego, which will use most of the software packages from Maemo - (thats what you do when developing software, component re-use - before someone says I've got no source!).

There are too many blog posters thinking they know the problem - they dont!

Looks like it was written by some no-brainer, seriously, when you read it you will know what I mean. What is a 'blog-post' in anyway? Unless it written by someone with deep inside knowledge, like a CEO or a high ranking developer or at least a serious and seasoned journalist, it really is uninteresting, and the world would be better of without it.

I mean, we got maemo.org and Nokia forums for personal speculations and discussion, there is no need to write a blog.

Maemo (v5), to the general public, has only been on the N900.

Nokia *has* abandoned it. Look at the number of bugs closed with 'WONT FIX' in the issue tracker.

They're also trying to change to *yet* another attempt at their 'default' cross-platform language. Maybe if you used Python it'll work on Meego, but anything else is going to need a rewrite in QT Quick or whatever.

The main point was that Nokia needs to pick one thing, and do that, and it needs to get behind it and back it for *years* rather than flipping from one thing to another every 6 months.

What? All previous versions of Maemo were available to the general public!!! What you are saying is similar to saying Windows has only been available to the general public for about 1 year!

Windows 7 perhaps but not the Windows OS as a whole - so maemo 5 may have been available on the N900 - but maemo has been on FOUR DIFFERENT devices - it's just been different versions of Maemo thats all.

However i do I agree that Nokia needs to stick to one platform.

I take your point, but still feel the N900 was the first device Nokia tried hard to actually put into real high street shops.

That said, didn't see a single one for sale in town yesterday, it's all HTC or Samsung kit...
