Android USB RFID kit for N900?
I saw this on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-125KHz...item1c3c3441b2 This is a USB dongle RFID reader kit for Android/Iphone/Winphone with two credit card size cards and two key fobs. Is there any support for this either in Maemo or assuming it comes up on H-E-N/USB hostmode and I can load a driver do something fun with chroot Debian? |

I don't know if this will work with 2.4 Kernel or only with 2.6 but as far as I know the kernel will recognize the usb device as hid.
You need to have an additional driver and a daemon running on N900 (compiled for arm) to use it as a rfid reader. This will work if your dongel is USB-CCID compatible. daemon driver wiki |
Re: Android USB RFID kit for N900?
Interesting, for $20 delivered and I had the right software what could I do with this, read remaining value on a RFID bus card?
Not being a part of the phone is a pain but I find RFID toys a cool solution to a problem I haven't yet thought of. |

A bluetooth instead of USB RFID device would be more convenient, if possible.

Re: Android USB RFID kit for N900?
www.rzr.online.fr,
I never got the dongle though it seems that it would work. Mostly it needs the software, mainly a daemon to detect a NFC thing nearby and then execute a command when it tapped against. There is enough room in my Mugen/double-Scud/Qi(uses microUSB port) back but running host mode constantly would probably burn massive power and automated USB host mode setup is slow for it to be a thing which scans only every few seconds. |
