Is there a way to temporarily prevent screen lock?

Sometimes I need to prevent the automatic screen lock after no activity.

For example, it's annoying when playing guitar chords displayed in a browser window and the screen auto-locks.

I was thinking of a status bar option or something.

Any ideas appreciated.

Would also like to know that, for using x11vnc (remote control window stops responsiveness after screen lock)

install simple brightness app. It has an iption to keep the screen on, this overides the screen lock. It works for x11vnc as well.

Quickest way I know is to use the Simple Brightness Applet. Install that and then you can select to keep display on from the Status menu.

Edit: vi_ beat me to it.
