Gwibber install
I've read that there is a Gwibber (twitter app, see: http://gwibber.com/) that runs really well on OS2008 but I have not found any .deb for it anywhere. Does anyone know how to install or in what repo it might be hiding in?

Funny because I was just reading a post about it

Re: Gwibber install
Saw that too but can't find the latest (or any .deb for Maemo OS2008).

Re: Gwibber install
There seems to be a mythical build for the N900 as well, although all I can find are some screenshots!
I have had a look on the gwibber site and the source does not seem to be easily downloadable, otherwise it may be worth a punt at running in a scratchbox environment. The app seems to be written in python, using GTK libraries so it should hopefully be doable. If i can get the source I will see if it will work. Be great if an experienced dev could take a look, aqs to be honest I don't have much of an idea! |
Re: Gwibber install
Even funnier is that I was trying to build it yesterday...

Re: Gwibber install
I'll look further as well.
If you find a deb (Diablo or Maemo5) do let me know :) |

There is also another option I've never heard of: qTwitter, here:

Re: Gwibber install
Yeah I also mentioned it to w00t the Facebrick developer and someone in the thread pointed tough a Webpage talking about a N900 port in the works...
It actually seems pretty nice and the UI should need really minor adjustments for finger-friendliness so think it's a good candidate for porting/useful app... |
Re: Gwibber install
Hmm - downloaded the source and copied it over to the N810.
Tried to build it and it fails needing python-distutils-extra, which is in extras-devel, but it depends on another package which then has more dependancies - Package hell!! The Maemo4 VM image with the SDK/scratchbox installed is being downloaded. I'll fire that up, and see if I can grab everything in there, and build Gwibber. I have also fired a mesage of to the Gwibber team on Twitter (gwibber) asking about a port/package for N8x0 - I suggest everyone else reading this who would like it do the same. The main developer has/had an N810, and has had it working (see link in my above post) so it's doable.. |
