N900: WLAN channel 13 not working in EU?

Hi,

I've got a 802.11bg WLAN with 3 APs, running on channels 1, 8 and 13.

The N900 can see the two APs with channel 1 and 8, but not the one on 13 (even when disabling the other two).

This seems like a problem with the regulatory domain setting of the WLAN driver, since 13 is forbidden in North America. My device is running with Regional settings "Germany", and it's from amazon.de, so presumbly not a US reimport.

Anyone else seeing this effect?

Best Regards,
Olli

smart fellow figured it out all by himself.

so what you need is a permanent location set tool. a channel 13 hack or change the channel.

You don't happen to have a permanent location set tool or a channel 13 hack around, by any chance?

hehe we need to be able to enable all 14 channels at max power and also FM Tx while charging! :)

The solution is said to be "iw set reg EU" but that doesn't help you if you don't have the "iw" package installed and you cannot connect to the Internet because the WiFi access point you need to use is on channel 12 or 13.

I was able to get access to channel 13 without iw by doing

Nokia-N900:~# rmmod wl12xx
Nokia-N900:~# rmmod mac80211
Nokia-N900:~# rmmod cfg80211
Nokia-N900:~# modprobe cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU
Nokia-N900:~# modprobe mac80211
Nokia-N900:~# modprobe wl12xx

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/developers/Regulatory

The command "iwlist wlan0 freq" will show you what frequencies are currently allowed.

I tried doing "iw reg set JP" but it did not seem to activate channel 14. Don't forget the WiFi Channel 12 and 13 enabler package

I have a 2.6.28.10-power51 kernel.
