I asked this too , but still no answer . I'm posting this because I really want to see an answer . :)

Your comparison seems to be wrong, since Quim Qil is telling in Meego forums that N9 has both FM receiver and transmitter capabilities, but it's lacking software currently.

as soon as the software is available, I can update the table. Right now, if you pre-order the n9, there is no guarantee at all that fm will ever be functional.

Yep, maybe you need to add a maybe icon to your table ;)

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

having read all the replies, I think i've reached the conclusion that the N9 doesn't offer a compelling enough argument to move from the N900.

Why?
1. cost seems to outweigh the benefits
2. more ram is good, but in all honesty i've not found the N900
that slow
3. NFR... more a gimmick really
4. gorilla glass display....this is good, but a reason to spend a few
100 quid upgrading? no
5. more disk space....N900 + a card gives me more than enough
6. No HW keyboard....this really is the dealbreaker for me.

also i'm not clear on whether the N9 will be able to do all the awesome things the N900 does/has apps for
- rdp
- bittorrents
- ftp client
- mount network drives
all of which i use daily for work etc

And the N9 have only one processor.

Pentium 4 3.3GHz > Core i7 2.4GHz

Right?

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

The N9 's slightly wider and unrounded, beautiful industrial design will cause more hurt to Elop when an angry mob of former mobile sheep and let down MeeGo devs would shove it somewhere.

I found NFC, better voice quality because of 2 mics and a compass as the main features that the N9 has over the N900. (And the 1GB RAM, of course :) ...)

Nice list.

1. What a about battary. Could be nice in the list as well.
power and changeable or not.

2. front cam or not.

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

For me the Reasons to buy a N9 could be:

- Meego
- nice and modern UI
- Navigation out of the box
- slim Design
- Gorilla glass
- better battery
- fast camera
- digital compass

What I don't like so much is:
- battery can't be changed
- In fact there are some N900-Apps that I really like and it would be bad for me, if they will be not available for the N9.

Although I like the N900 for it's Hardware Keyboard, the Slim Design of the N9 would be more important for me. Because I think that I can become accustomed to typing on a virtual keyboard (for the quantity of text I am usually typing).

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

I will buy the N9, here are my reasons:

- Love the OS and UI
- Core/build in apps seem reasonable
- Build quality seems solid
- Design is very aesthetically pleasing
- It has decent specs

I don't think it will be my main phone, at least within 6 months of its release... what with early OS build and less-than-strong 3rd party support.

Well I for one won’t be buying a phone with a doomed OS I’m still annoyed with Nokia for discontinuing support for Maemo

those features are all in open source community apps for N900. Harmattan is a full linux os just like fremantle, so they're a simple compile away. yes, the N9 can do those things.

Hmm in which case it sounds more promising,

Still not sure about the lack of hw keyboard, I hate typing on a touchscreen.......

Maybe i'll wait for a few months after release to see what the feedback is.

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

Surely someone will manufacture a case that includes a small bluetooth or usb-enabled keyboard?

Something like this:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/e66e/

Maybe even include extra power/communication hw or other goodies too...

If so, we'd end up with a much better option than the n950.

True actually, I like the look of the case with keyboard builtin.
hmmm might to buy one in the future and get the tools out to make it fit the N9 : )

Can you find a similar case for the Nokia N8? If not, then you probably know where I'm going with this.

I'm buying one because I like the UI, plain and simple.

if WP phones share the form factor, the N9 will get more accessories thant the N900.

n900 is better than the n9 in everything, at least in the hardware keyboard. n900 is the best phone a person can have

I don't think they know what they are talking about in this article, for example:
Quote:

Nokia N9: The N9 comes in 16GB and 64GB flavours and has a microSD slot. Connectivity is bang up to date, with HDMI, DLNA, WiFi, Bluetooth and also NFC.

That's not the real question... the real question is what kind of video is output? analog VGA? Yikes. That would make it unusable for lots of things (watching 720p video), anything with text, etc.

PAL/NTSC most likely, like the N900.
