If you have only a 1-gear-shiftbox there is no time consumed by shifting gears, I suppose?

it quite depends, too...
just try to load some media apps such as Pioneer`s iControlAV2 on 4s and you`ll definitely see some bad lag...
also, 4s costs 500+ EUR where I live (NITB), N9 280 EUR (NITB)...
nothing to compare, though...

I have to agree with gerbick. N900 as a phone is horrible. Since my T-mobile $30 per month unlimited internet prepaid only comes with 100 talking minutes, I added a separate ~$3.50 per month Boost prepaid for an old Motorola iDen phone. Frankly the latter gives a far superior phone experience. But I love my N900. Why? I see it as a micro computer with added limited phone features. I have attended week-long conferences carrying just the N900, without any other computer devices.

This happend with a freshly flsshed phone, with it running powrr kernel set at 1150 and with power kernel(1150)/CSSU installed.
The N900 does alot of things great just not the phone call part.

Regards Dousan...

I realized that this happens very rarely (approx 1 out of 1000 times the landscape-portrait whoooop, therefore touch screen does not react).
When it happens I had my hand over the sensor most of the time so that my N900 thought that I am holding it near my ear.
Maybe that is an explanation (hand over sensor when grapping the phone).
Maybe it depends on how you grap that phone. ;)

How to Be Happy When Making and Receiving Phone Calls With the Nokia N900:

Set Phone -> Turning control -> Display orientation to Landscape

Unset Phone -> Turning control -> Launch by turning

How to Be Unhappy When Making and Receiving Phone Calls With the Nokia N900:

Set Phone -> Turning control -> Display orientation to Portrait or Automatic

Set Phone -> Turning control -> Launch by turning

...

So _that_ is one of your big problems if not _the_ problem.
Are you sure that your other smartphones handle e.g. a phone call
and websurfing at the same time and that they do not simply switch?

Never having 3.5 would also drive me nuts.
