It's not about a particular website , I just love how N900 shows pages as a PC so I wanted this on my N9 too . If I am not wrong , N900 it's the only phone that shows web pages as a pc ?

Well I'm sorry but N9 using fennec allows desktop user agents browsing using extension Phony
And previosly my desire hd using android also supported desktop user agent

it doesn't work on pr1.2, user permission to replace original grob are denied.

i did a force overwrite using fileboxroot and have messed it up. web browser just doesn't open anymore. could someone advice on how to replace it otherwise i'll have to re-flash.

I also have problem with changing grob file.. I always get Permission denied... I can't remove, rename or cp -f to this file...
Any solution for changing this orig grob file in PR1.2 ?

thanks, I know about inception, but I don't want to use this, because I want to add this to my script (n9 qtweak) and will tell to all users that need to install inception and opensh..

Only "inception", change the User Agent on pr1.2
Using the user agent of the N900 browser displays all perfectly in desktop mode.
But I think with the release of Fennec and Flash, this manipulation is useless ..

with opensh you can rm and reapply new grob file, the quest is, isthere any new UA from LUMIA compatible with N9?? i tried but webbrowser wont boot up

As alternative I'm using Phony plugin for firefox - very easy to install and do the job. Don't know if someone was mention it already cause thread is 10 page long now.

Hi all, I just updated my firefox to 12.0 and as it seems phony doesn't work anymore like its supposed to, just going to gmail with the user agent set to iPhone or Nexus got firefox to crash straight away. And one time my phone just switched off.... I was wondering what happened. So I've disabled and uninstalled phony for now.

Solution:
Deleting cookies etc just helped. Now it works fine. I had selected allow when it asked me whether i want to share my location with Google. This might be the thing that threw it off

Agreed, the current Google/Gmail basic view is so incredibly crap, its almost unusable to edit your search. I find myself having to go to the top address bar and doing a search from scratch..

Having seen the new google set up for android and ios, I want a user agent change for my N9 stock browser somehow, maybe a toggle switch or something. Something that sticks after a reboot, with inception, this is possible.

Bit confused..
Logged in as devel-su and also tried logging in as superuser/root.
Devel-su did not provide the privileges needed and superuser/root was blocked for some reason.. am I doing this wrong, or has nokia blocked it? Or is it because I am on a carrier specific software variant?
