remapping n900 keys

All, I'm trying to rework some of the english n900 keys to be actually useful for my purposes.

by modifying the /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/nokia_vndr/rx-51 file I was able to map
fn+c => pipe
"key <AB03> { [ c, C, bar, bar ] }"

but I'm having trouble mapping
fn+z => tilde
"key <AB01> { [ z, Z, tilde, tilde ] }"
shift+space=>tab
"key <SPCE> { [ space, tab, at, at ] }"
fn+enter=>escape
"key <KPEN> { [ Return, Return, Escape, Escape ]}"
something reasonable=>delete
fn+down=>pagedown
fn+up=>pageup

Has anyone tried any of these and gotten it to work?

i didn't get pageup/down... and i really would like to add other programming keys like brackets and braces as a secondary symbol to the blue displayed ones.

In your informal opinion, would I kill something if I copied for example the french keyboard and started making a whole new character map from it?

Or would a new language character option just show up on my device in the input language settings?

@ olighak

Would you mind sharing your modified Icelandic keyboard?

I use the danish keyboard for Danish (and English), but would also like to get a full Icelandic keyboard layout.

I have just put ð,þ Þ instead of the Eurosign and Sterling sign on the Danish keyboard layout which is is ok for shorter texts in Icelandic, but it would be great to get the full keyboard layout for longer texts, if you don't mind posting it.

:cool:

Kóðinn er hér að neðan:

partial alphanumeric_keys
xkb_symbols "cz" {
include "nokia_vndr/rx-51(english base)"
include "nokia_vndr/rx-51(arrows_2btns)"

name[Group1] = "Icelandic";

// 1. row
key <AB08> { [ eth, Eth, equal, equal ] };

// 2. row
key <AC01> { [ a, A, exclam, exclam ] };
key <AC02> { [ s, S, semicolon, semicolon ] };
key <AC03> { [ d, D, colon, colon ] };
key <AC09> { [ l, L, aring, aring ] };
key <AB09> { [ ae, AE, dead_diaeresis, dead_diaeresis ] };
key <UP> { [ thorn, Thorn, dead_acute, dead_acute ] };

// 3. row
key <LEFT> { [ period, comma, question, question ] };
};

Om du ville beholde det danske men inkludere resten kunne du altid også for eksempel udskifte apostrophen ' (apostroph) på AD07 (M) med ´ (dead_acute). Så ville du have det hele sådan set accessibelt på det danske með din nuværende opsætning.

key <AD07> { [ m, M, dead_acute, dead_acute ] };

Hvað kemur til að þú skrifar á íslensku? :)

Með kærri kveðju,
Óli

Sælir drengir, ég er einmitt að leita mér að leið til þess að fá íslenskt lyklaborð til þess að virka á mínum N900... er til nánari lýsing á því hvernig maður fer að því að breyta þessu eins og þið eruð að gera ???

Hi Alex would it be possible for you to give me detailed information as to how I can make my own Icelandic keyboard and apply that to my N900

Tilde is "asciitilde". Page up and Page down are Prior and Next. The return key is <RTRN>. In general, you can find names of symbols by running xmodmap -pke on your desktop.
