(Request) Would someone be willing to port 2 apps from N900 to N9.

Hi all as the tittle says I'm looking for some dev to port 2 apps from N900 to N9.
The 2 apps I'm on about is Classic Cam and Classic Print developed by a TMO member -> fieldofcows. I haven't contacted him since he hasen't been active since 05-03-11.
I really think the camera part in the N9 is missing some features/apps. I've tried Sophie Cam but that does not cut it and it misses alot of customisation that these two apps would give me.
These to apps would give the camera part a big boost and make the N9 an even better experience imo.
I like to take pictures and think the N9's camera HW is allright and with these apps the pics would be usable for other things than just showing on the device or upload to some social website.
I really hope someone will pick up this request/challange.
I'm no dev at all and can't help with any coding what so ever, but I can help with testing/bug finding.

Classic Print and Classic Cam threads:

Classic Print/Classic Cam download:

http://maemo.org/packages/view/classiccam/

Last as I'm not a dev i wouldn't know how much work this would take, but I'm hoping it's not that much.
I might be of help with the graphical side of the apps?

Regards Dousan...

e: just tried to install ClassicPrint and it can't, didn't think so but tried anyway. There's no digsigsums file and it depends on hildon-application-manager.

tried quickly to see how much maemo5 specifics, etc. they contain. classicprint seems to be pretty much a traditional qwidgets based application so it needs a UI rewrite to work properly on n9. Also it didn't work on the the desktop. opening a picture didn't show up in the application itself. Dunno if there are some hard coded paths, expectations from the underlaying platform or something. In any case there is some work to be done there.

as for classiccam it has a bit more dependencies and not all of those were available for desktop (libgdigicam-dev, libgdigicam-gst-camerabin-dev) so didn't experiment any further. But I'd guess this also needs a UI rewrite and possibly some lower level changes (or not). So there's also some work to be done here.

Anyway that's the starting point in case someone is interested in picking up this project. Personally I don't have the time or the needed interest in them to do the changes.

I find Effectica better than Sophie Cam, it has many filters and you can mix them up, it also doesn't force you to resize pictures. Its price is triple of Sophie Cam though.

I was looking for "Effectica" and couldn't find it at first, but it's actually spelled "Effetica". Here's the direct link:

Just gonna bump this thread.

First thanks for your replies and second I'm still hoping for someone to pick this up cause there's no apps coming close to these two in Nokia market.

Hi Dousan,

I didn't think anyone would still be using Classic Cam or Classic Print. I didn't think there was much interest, and I had other things to work on so didn't really develop them any further than the initial version.

I don't know anything about the N9. Does it use qt? If so, a port should be very easy. I originally developed it on desktop and just compiled it for the N900 so it should be fairly platform independant.

I don't really have the time to devote to this but if anyone wants to pick it up and needs any help then feel free to contact me.

Yes the n9 uses QT. Here is a brief about it http://blog.qt.nokia.com/2011/09/29/...-the-nokia-n9/

I have a small amount of development experience. I have used Eclipse and compiled some basic Java programs before. If it's just a question of setting up my computer to compile QT code I think I could handle that. But if there are major code changes required I am not sure I have the skillset for that. I would like to lol, but I am not that good.

Once I do some reading up on QT I'll post a reply

This is very good news @fieldofcows and @jpaulwhite :D

I don't know how many used your apps, but I found both very usefull. Android got something called Magic hour that is on par imo, but now I have a N9 and I miss this type of camera/photo enhancer. @fieldofcows yours where absolutly awesome on the N900. My wife thought back then it looked a bit odd/ugly with those 60'ies 70'ies filters and now she just loves histagram on her iphone 4S lol.

I'm glad that this is moving forward and really hope that it will continue :)

Very nice to see you offer your help @fieldofcows :D

Looking forward to your reply jpaulwhite :D

e: on a side note, @fieldofcows have you still got your N900 or have you moved on or both?

You've tried Effetica too?
You said you only tried Sophie Cam.
