Reading SMS in Morse Code

Is there a way to play an incoming SMS message as Morse code or voice? It would be useful for when driving or cycling.

For voice check eSpeak CLI, should be possible to get a script reciting SMS. Not sure if TextToMorse exists. Would be fun

There are python scripts to convert text to morse

https://github.com/tvor/Text-to-Morse--Python-.git

This could be do-able with the right brains behind the idea.Oh and with the n900 FM transmittor we could have some proper old skool fun :)

This seem doable to me. text to morse is pretty easy to implement. Adding that to the Qt mobility SMS preview example [1] should pretty much do it.

I always am stumped at all the people who do not know their nokia sms signal is s-m-s in morse... Not sure if they will understand the full message.

Funny, as during driving/cycling, my brain would be much more occupied during morse-to-text decoding, than it would take to actually stop and read.

Still, it's really fun idea.

// Edit

Next step - sending SMS via smssend and program that "hears" Morse code tapped on phone (via accelerometer) :)

You can use this:
http://www.smartphonetab.net/forum/s...ight=leggi+sms

To change language, edit
/home/user/.leggisms.config

With this widget, you can listen to the last received message ;)
