Re: Facebook chat authentication failed!!!

So now everyone (I think) can see my point.

N900 provides me with everything I want, except one thing, facebook chat, especially built-in shell, no messenger sh*t or else.

I play with my devices (got 6 of em) in many different ways, one is acctually mini PC with BT Key and Mouse,, connected to tv.

I think that I did almost everything with those devices accordingly to my knowledge and imagination.

Still, one of those n900's is in almost perfect shape, with mugen battery, veeery fast flash card,. runs const. on 1000mhz. Got everything except the fb chat which in my life is some of the basics things. I don't like social sites like fb twitter or so I just need real time facebook chat on my n900 which imho was, is, and will be best device ever if it comes to chatting.

My offer 100$ for maintaining fb chat still stands, so pass this info from one to another.

Buy neo900!!!

Re: Facebook chat authentication failed!!!

"Buy neo900???"

Better understand the definition of the word "Buy" first.

"Definition of the word "Buy" :
verb
verb: buy; 3rd person present: buys; past tense: bought; past participle: bought; gerund or present participle: buying

1.
obtain in exchange for payment.
"we had to find some money to buy a house"
synonyms: purchase, acquire, obtain, get, pick up; More
take, procure, pay for;
invest in;
get hold of, snatch up, snap up, grab, score
"they bought a new house"
antonyms: sell
pay someone to give up an ownership, interest, or share.
procure the loyalty and support of (someone) by bribery.
"here was a man who could not be bought"
be a means of obtaining (something) through exchange or payment.
"money can't buy happiness"
get by sacrifice or great effort.
"greatness is dearly bought"
make a profession of purchasing goods for a store or firm.
2.
informal
accept the truth of.
"I am not prepared to buy the claim that the ends justify the means"

noun informal
noun: buy; plural noun: buys

1.
a purchase.
"the wine is a good buy at $3.49"
synonyms: purchase, investment, acquisition, gain; More
deal, value, bargain
"a good buy"
an act of purchasing something.
"out on a produce buy for the restaurant"

NONE of those examples come CLOSE to the situation of the neo900.
Let alone "Buying" one.

To "Buy" a neo900 would mean that it was or is being physically "ACQUIRED" for a form of payment.

The closest the neo900 comes to "buying" ...
is ....
"pre-buying"
In anticipation "OF" the COMPLETION of the future product.

And in the time line of "pre-buying" it is sadly lacking.

YEARS ago I "pre-bought" half a neo900 ....

So where is the neo900?

Take a good hard look my friend at this LAST updated timeline....from 1year and 3 days old.

http://neo900.org/static/plan.png

So where is this magical neo900 that I can "buy"?

After ALMOST 4 years now...since it started... of support and belief in the project...even my patience is done.

I am glad I didn't "prebuy" the total cost!

When / If ever the project is declared dead...there is a good chance the "pre- order / investment in devel"
that all have put in ...that everyone has been "gaining interest on" ...will end up being a zero...in return ...or possible close to it..."sans the cost for work and parts on the project..." of course... and I understand time needs to be paid for ...others may not..
yet again...who knows?
Perhaps IF it fails there will be reasonable refunds..
Perhaps IF it succeeds there will FINALLY be a product to "Buy".

But...

Buy neo900???

Sorry man...it is a little late in the day to be a "booster" for the neo.

It's a little late to be handing out bowls of crap and trying to convince it is tasty chocolate pudding.

And yet you can't find 'sarcasm' in your dictionary? LoL

You're so serious yet so smart, but lost the sense of humour

sadly it's the same with whatsapp now, since facebook bought it

Re: Facebook chat authentication failed!!!

It isn't all so grim...
telegram is one of the few options left.
and since the usual suspects....whatsapp...facebook...etc... are so weighty and heavy and laden with all kinds of crap...
services light and lighter than telegram will certainly flourish ...

actually ...
Instead of grieving over our devices not being able to run the "standard" social media apps...

Finding lesser known and more n900 applicably-functional social media apps would be a good idea...

before any raise words....
I know...I know....
it is the same old plaintive cry...
"Everyone I know use "whatever" ...

Well THAT behaviour will most certainly make sure no upstart new apps have a chance of survival....

No one I knew used telegram ....everyone I knew used facebook, whatsapp..and such popular apps......
I made a point of telling friends and family I could only use telegram...on my n900.
they accepted that and have been happily using telegram since...
meaning more telegram users...

I should do some research and see what lightweight alternatives there are.... that may exist which could function on our devices...

we affect the change we wish for.

WhatsApp has always been the same. Its affair with Facebook only solidifed its already evil character.

To Ibrakalifa:

If you were being sarcastic it was cleverly disguised as quite plain language..
I accept that you were being sarcastic ...but please try to add something so it is plain and obvious for simple folk like me not to confuse
:D

To sicelo:

Well thanks man... :D

It is ...or rather used to be our philosophy here ...eh?
I think we are getting soft around here...

It used to be ..
If there was something we wanted that others had...
we found methods of making them work for us...
or we found alternatives that worked,
or made said alternatives ourselves.

Nothing has changed in that regard except time ..and numbers of n900 users and developers in that time.

If anything...considering those two factors... and their impact on us...adoption and / or adaptation of new and / or old and / or different methods of reaching desired goals should also be considered.

for example:
If past "A" researched and applied method(s) did not work due to n900 hardware or software barriers or limitations which hit hurdles they couldn't cross over to their success....
that doesn't mean they are dead ends of development with no hope of success.

Perhaps past "A" researched and applied method(s) coupled with another (or others) past "B" researched and applied method will have the desired success.

Or

Perhaps a new development or unraveling of some code...which has already occurred ...or just newly done... in conjunction with "A" ...or with "A" and "B" ...or with "A", "B" and "C" ....etc... will allow that hurdle ..that barrier... to developmental success... to be no barrier at all.

All it takes is a keen eye and an open mind ...and the time to study a problem ...
and usually there is a solution...

It just takes motivation, will, desire, and creativity.

"Cool ***** .....don't make itself ..."
someone once said...(can't remember who though..)

Will this work with new facebook API change/deprecation?
Can it be compiled to work with telepathy for n9?

His builds are still working for me (even group chat works). I didn't try on the n900 though. But I agree those messaging apps are a real pain in the ***, particularly whatsapp.

Yup...they keep changing a great deal of how they function on whatever platforms and whatever devices...

I believe they do this more for the fact of control...
than of "streamlining"
or
"improving end user enjoyment"
or
whatever they wish to call it...
