YotaPhone - Andriod Dual Screen device.

This is a very interesting device I just came across.

Andriod OS
1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor
12 megapixel rear facing camera
720p front facing camera
2GB of RAM
minimum of 32GB in expansion

But the main cleaver feature is the dual screen.
One standard LCD and one E-ink, both covered with Gorilla glass.

I am not really interested in other devices normally, as I can't stand current mobile OS's other than Maemo 5 plus I need a proper keyboard.
But I have to say this is a clever design.

Old news. but always nice to talk about it again, since it so different. I think pretty interesting concept. But I would not waste my money on the first device.

Seems nice, I bet using the E-Ink display whenever color and backlight aren't needed could save a lot of battery.

Also, this doesn't belong in the alternatives forum, It should be in competitors.

YotaPhone: the e-ink Android phone

Now this is an interesting phone with an e-ink display on its backside (or front?). Something I've suggested as a THO for Sailfish once :p

Judging from its hardware data the phone sounds more potent than the Jolla one, though it's running android and therefore be taken with a grain of salt.
The color-display got a 720p resolution that will display most webpages without need of scrolling in their non-mobile view.

Asking price is 499 euros ($675)...

To be honest, I am Russian and I can tell you that here in Russia you can trust only in military devices, vehicles, plans and submarines. But you should also expect they always will be a little not up to date and look like a Doom_Day_Machine.
But hey, this is a first Russian smart phone anyway :D

Personally I like it. I wish a eink THO would be made for the Jolla. Would be a reason more to get it!

Anyway, I will never buy an android phone, and if Replicant was ported to it, I'm pretty sure all the software to handle the back screen would be gone...

Who wants to read a book while making a phone call?

It's less about reading a book than the fact you can push your appointments/calendar events to the e-ink side - that interests me. It would mean a longer battery life; less hassle to remind myself of that I'll be late for in that day.
