What is the future of MicroB?

Can this project be revitalized?
I like it so much...

There is no future, as it's based on GTK.
There is a similar approach called embedlite IPCLiteAPI, which is based on Qt and QML. There is even a version for N900 called Alopex.

being based on gtk isn't really a valid reason. the fact the existing ui is closed source is the issue. some of the microb-engine patches apply cleanly to newer version, some need a little adapting. there was a replacement for some of the other components.

alopex looks more promising as it is based on a newer version of firefox engine and makes use of ipclite. i just wish there was more information fed back on overall progress and releases for people to test. git changelogs are ok but a simple message of overall progress would be better.

I've never heard of Alopex.

I don't know the future of MicroB (and I wish for the best), but I know its present state.

"MicroB has stopped responding. Close the application?"

or something like that

Re: What is the future of MicroB?

MicroB's two major advantages (compared to Fennec):
1. Proper recognition of MIME-types: such as, a .deb can be opened with App Manager, instead of saving-and-installing;
2. Spiral-zoom-gesture.
Oh, and Fennec saves all downloads into one default difficult-to-remember destination, but it may be configurable - just haven't tried to change it in about:config, yet.
And Fennec is slow.
Best wishes.

The future is Alopex but you will need to go CSSU-Thumb

Unfortunately it is :( - GTK is unable to provide GL context. That automatically scratches WebGL. It is possible to use IPCLite with SW renderer, HTML5 video works, but so is flash, thus I see no reason to upgrade to newer gecko for just having HTML5 video.
