You can plug-in almost anything into a usb port of the n900. However, many devices require a special driver in order to work. The custom kernel already provides basic drivers for devices such as:

USB Storage(cd-roms, flash drives, hdd, etc)
USB HID(Keyboards, mice, joysticks, touchpads, etc)

Re: usb data card on n900

I had to google to find out what a "USB data card" is. Apparently that's ambiguous.
It can be a regular USB key in credit card format or a credit card writer with USB interface or even something different. So I think that should be made clear first.

As a rule of thumb:
Any device that's compatible with Linux kernel 2.6.28 and doesn't consume more than 200mA should work fine via H-E-N.

I had an usb data card, it's just a USBdrive in a strange/usefule design ;) Never tested it, but my other usb drives work so I assume this one does too...

Intresting thought , No idea it's gonna work or not but still posting.
Check out the attached PDF , has step by step guide with xterminal codes. This is for TATA Photon/Photon + only. Will not work for MTS Blaze.

Please post here if it works. Best of Luck

PS: No idea , How much Power a TATA Photon stick needs to run. If it's < / = 200 Mili Amph it should work.

i doubt it will work , you will need a package to switch from the mass storage mode to modem mode

bsnl mts and photon+ all three works good as a micro sd card reader, it seems there is no power issue. but not tested for networking.

i will try it tmrw.
