None of the default apps except for the phone application use portrait mode. 3rd party apps are free to add portrait mode if they like.

There's a reply with at least mozilla saying the browser will support portrait mode. :)

ok people can we sugest maemo team to make some firmware with portrait mode i want to buy this phone but not in landskape mode only.it will be big mistake not to have portrait mode.your ideas please

ok does someone have maemo team mail I realy wants to ask them n900 is great device but no portrait mode big big mistake.and all people on net think like me see for yourself

There's no need for the team's e-mail. They actively cover this website for feedback and the desire for portrait mode is already known to them.
