seems you have boot image installed for an older kernel version, but your last picture does not show the complete version string. You may want to look in application manager logs for additional information. But it seems a simple uninstall of "boot image" would do the job.

I got the same message and subsequently got stuck in boot loop by using apt get update followed by apt get upgrade, never got me in trouble before but there is a first time for everything.
Pls advise if a flash of the rootfs will get me back on track - n900 is my media device and i would rather not have to mess with the emmc as it has a lot of music and video?

Better flash only kernel, so you will be able to boot without losing anything. Search for how to flash kernel only.

go to application manager>uninstall>look for old kernel power related files then uninstall..then install kp50 see it will work :)
