meh..only game ever worth playing on the iTouch was the Tap Tap series

Was MGS even that good on it?

IMO there are other much better games on iOS: Dead Space, Super Street Figher IV, GTA: Chinatown, Monkey Island (enhanced), broken sword (dir cut), Real Racing 2, Plants vs Zombies, etc etc so many others.

As I've said before, any apps ecosystem with sufficiently open publication model and good SDK will get apps in it; Both good AND bad.
One thing that separates big ecosystem than smaller ones: due to the economy of scale harnessed by the bigger ecosystem, apps/games/content that require higher investments will be targeted here first/primarily than the 'lesser' ecosystem.

ps: no, running monkey island on scumm is very different than this new version.

Nope.. Angry Birds was released on N900 first before it ever made it to the iphone (although it was in demo mode at the time)
