Re: Resetting lock code

Followed the instructions here and when I get to the bit where I enter the line in xterm to get the DES hash I get stuck.

I tried in the console in winscp but that, after entering the code, showed 'root::'. Thinking it was an error I tried this line in xterm:

Code:

echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1): > /home/user/MyDocs/old_lockcode
The resulting file, when opened in Notepad, also shows 'root::' as well (thus, John the Ripper cannot 'crack' the code).

N900, running Maemo 5 version 10.2010.19-1. Hong Kong official version which I believe is the same as the Global variant.

Anyone?

Also... I can't seem to be able to use the script in the OP- it results in 'file not found' but I'm sure that the folder I chdir'd into is where a.out.gz is.

I'm using the windows version of john. I don't see any options to tell john to just use digits...guess i'll just have to wait then for a couple of minutes.

Start > Run > cmd

navigate to the folder where you have john saved:

cd C:\john

then type

john-386.exe textfilewithhash.txt

and then hit enter...still haven't cracked my password since it's going through ALL alphanumeric combos...

Re: Resetting lock code

Would there be a program i can sneak in the device (renaming it so it won't be recognized by others) that would let me break the code with the device itself? (i'm not locked out, yet; eventually i might be)

Hello there, i've been reading these forums and trying everything to get my lock working again but to no avail. And yes, i'm a nubie. The closest i've gotten is to get the code: root: I175/BqIwc5z6
The first letter and one after the "Q" is an 'eye' btw.....can anyone help me with this so i can finally get some sleep?

Re: Resetting lock code

how hard would it be to make a js thing where you insert your code and it spits out the decoded value?

zlatko 2010-09-20 19:45

Re: Resetting lock code

@kl2010
I there is something wrong with the value you supply for lock code hash - JTR can't decode it for over 8 minutes now, and it normally does that in 1 sec.. Please make a screen shot of the terminal when you run the command and post it here.

kl2010 2010-09-20 19:52

Re: Resetting lock code

i just ran the code again, it is still 6vMwAVQjjH.W6 the dot between the letter H and W baffles me too. i will try to get the screen shot up now.

zlatko 2010-09-20 19:55

Re: Resetting lock code

@kl2010
Your lock code is 22132

PS. You were supplying wrong hash till now because hash is CASE SENSITIVE! ;-)
6vMwAVQjjH.W6 is different than 6vMwAvQjjH.W6

Check your hash string and copy it EXACTLY here - with capital and small letters.

I've got this same issue. Any ideas out there?

I thought maybe my lock code was null, however, you can't press "done" without entering in a number.

Re: Resetting lock code

@m0da
Just run this command line:
Code:

echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1):
in XTerm.
It will give you output in the terminal. Make a screen shot and post it here.

I am not sure if the code is supposed to have a / but this is exactly what appears after i run the (grep -A......) The first letter is NOT an L by the way, it is a capital "eye". SO is the one after the "q"

Re: Resetting lock code

@V65N900

Can you try this one: 1410021? With code of your last post JTR spit this number. Which is 7 digits, not 5...

Re: Resetting lock code

do need to type anything else before "echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1):"

i get "grep: /dev/mtd1: Permission denied"

You have to be a root. Only root has access.
