Re: deblet cannot use usb keyboard on n800

Dide you run the echo host command floating around here on how to enable "Host Mode" in the tablet?? You have to run that command first before plugging in USB devices.. if you're like me and want to run in host mode most/all of the time you can stick the command in /etc/rc.local and it will run every time the deblet boots.

Do a search for "USB Host Mode".. I never remember the whole command.

i find this command :

Quote:

echo host > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode
and i run it using root, but this file content is always:

when i using OS2008, i did not need do anything before using my usb device

is deblet has another process watching this file?

Re: deblet cannot use usb keyboard on n800

In deblet the usb networking driver is loaded by default to support telnet over usb.
Try these commands as root in deblet:
killall utelnetd
ifconfig down usb0
rmmod g_ether
modprobe g_file_storage stall=0 luns=2 removable
echo host > /sys/class/usb_host/usb_host1/device/mode

If those work, add them into rc.local (above exit 0) and run:
chmod +x /etc/rc.local

Enjoy. You've got this bug:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3026

if you want, I can shove you a uber modded kernel with that fix. source patch:
http://qwerty12.maemobox.org/kernel/uber.patch

(But you are better off building own kernel with that patch mentioned in the bugzilla. The patch I use is meant for people who want to have the most featureful 2.6.21 kernel available :P)

I have never had to do any of that short of the last line to get my USB keyboard to work out of box with Deblet.

I think Stskeeps removed the USB networking module by default.. but I'm not sure. All I know is once I run the echo host > command.. my usb keyboard flies beautifully.

Re: deblet cannot use usb keyboard on n800

What is the performance of USB keyboards under deblet? I've wanted to use a proper keyboard with my N810 for some time now, but typing is always laggy, both with USB and bluetooth keyboards. Is Deblet better in this respect? Is there anybody that has tried typing both in OS2008 and Deblet who can compare and contrast the lagginess? The lag isn't really that bad in OS2008, but I'm a very fast typist, so it is more aggravating to me that it likely would be to most people. If typing is perfect in Deblet, that would be a killer app that would probably be enough to motivate me to install it on my own N810.
