Want to help out the Maemo Community?

If you didn't know it, the nomination period (Feb. 25-March 11) for the next Maemo Community Council elections (March 11-18) is open.

If you (or someone you know) meet the requirements and you (or someone you know) would like to be a direct influence on the Maemo Community, feel free to nominate yourself (or someone you know).

More details here:

http://is.gd/m7hz

To nominate, you must post an email to the maemo-community Mailing List (check the List archives for the proper nomination format).

Thanks and good luck!

Tim (current -- and maybe future -- Maemo Community Council member)

Re: Want to help out the Maemo Community?

Thanks for your work and the work of others who are working so hard in maemo.org. I think it should be mentioned that a Maemo community member (of at least three months) may be entitled to vote based in part on the number of postings and thanks here in iTT (as two of many other factors). They do not necessarily need to be a developer to vote.

One thing, could someone possibly post how to correlate one's postings here on iTT with their maemo.org account so that their karma is accurate and they are recognized as eligible to vote? Thanks.

Just paste your profile link (http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/member.php?u=<member number>) into the field for InternetTabletTalk.com on your maemo.org profile (you can edit your maemo.org profile by going to your profile page—http://www.maemo.org/profile/view/<username>—and clicking "Edit account" in the little floating Midgard toolbar).

For those of you thinking you could help, but think "I haven't got the time", you may already be doing "enough": following one or more maemo-* mailing lists, reading maemo.org/news/ (or the planet), reading and posting here and so on.

It's a facilitation role - to help Nokia understand what matters to the community, and vice versa. Some of us do this, hopefully well, with a full-time job (sorry Tim :(); two children and a 3 hour daily commute!

absolutely right jaffa.
Now, with the new RX-X1 device and always on data, that 3 hour commute can be spent managing maemo community :p

  1. If I get re-elected ;-)
  2. Assuming the web browser is fast enough to make ITTtalk.maemo.org pleasant.

Maybe it is just me, but I never saw this floating Midgard toolbar in my Opera browser.

I just got it to work in Mozilla Firefox though.

Hey everyone... The nomination period ends at midnight UTC tonight!

There's still time to nominate yourself or...someone you know. ;)
