Voltage input: Is 6V ok?
I noticed that using the charger, My N800 will receive 5V
I just purchased a solar panel (only panel, no ekstra battery) The Output from that is 6V (250 mA) Will this cause my Nokia to explode/charge super slow .. etc? |

although I can't confirm whether it has the correct nokia tip - one guy did leave a review "I have tried it with a iPhone 1st generation, an iPhone 3G and a recent Nokia cell phone and it works with all three. The instructions with it are poor but it is simple to use. I didn't see an adapter for the recent Sony-Erickson phones. (Posted on 4/21/09)" From some other info I found - it will only charge @ 500mA compared to the 890mA of the real Nokia a/c charger. Fairly warned, be ye! |
Re: Voltage input: Is 6V ok?
I have ordered from http://www.solartechnology.co.uk/
The Panel is also made by them (its the one from the "globetrotter package") so now I wait |
Re: Voltage input: Is 6V ok?
6V is fine in itself , but the solar panel might not meet some of the other requirements for chargers. The voltage might be 6V in full sunlight and nominal load, but unloaded voltage will be higher..
The units paired with batteries tend to also have regulated output which should increase your chances. One peculiarity to keep in mind is thag the tablet (and others with same plug) actually reject 5V. IIRC, 4.2V - 4.8V is recognized as "special" charger, designed for supplies powered by solar panels and similar actually. 5.2, iirc, to 9 or so is recognized as fast charger. The maximum allowed current output drops off towards 9V. For exact figures not retrieved from my u nreliable wetware memory, and for complete voltage and current window graphs, search for 2mm charger on forum.nokia.com. |
Re: Voltage input: Is 6V ok?
buy 5v regulator? costs maybe couple of euros and maybe needs some cooling plate but probably doesn't.
