Stowaway Universal Keyboard?

I've not yet been able to pair my Thinkoutside Stowaway Universal BT keyboard with the N800. Worked fine with bt-plugin on the 770. Am I doing something wrong?

The Nokia SU-8W works fine with my N800, but it may be that they have limited Bluetooth keyboard support to a select few devices (like the one's Nokia makes money off). In the hardware keyboard applet in the control panel, it list Generic 105-key PC, iTech VKB and Nokia SU-8W. Nokia should really come forth in explaining the level of support they provide for Bluetooth keyboards and detail how keymaps/profiles for other devices can be created.

I got my thinkoutside stowaway keyboard working,
using the generic 105 keyboard profile.

It was tough pairing-
in bluetooth, select new, let it scan,
hold down ctrl, function, and the function simultaneously on the keyboard, after it discovers,
the N880 gives a 4 digit connect number which you have to type in on the stowaway (using the blue function key to double the top row keys as numbers), and hit enter.

It isa bit awkward, but now I can map special key combinations for functions to yield far more functionality than with 2006 bluetooth applet.

I did all that. Multiple times. I get "Pairing failed. Authentication time-out. Try again?" every damn time.

I can successfully pair to everything else I've tried, including four different computers. It only fails with the N800.

Sheesh.

Devil is in the details: Click "OK" on the dialog that present the pair key *before* entering the key on the keyboard. Worked like a champ when I did it that way.

I have two of them. No problem getting them work with N800. Just a pain that you gotta connect by open control panel/bluetooth/press keyboard/connect. Rather have a widget instead.

I managed to pair my Think Outside Bluetooth Sierra keyboard but I am finding that the blue Fn key is mapped to the Menu button.

If anyone has setup a custom xkb rules file and can give me some tips it would be much appreciated.

I found this link: http://hektor.umcs.lublin.pl/~mikosm...youts-xkb.html

But I'm not sure what to map the Fn key to.

gpd, I have the exact same problem, pairing and most key work but the Fn key of the Think Outside Bluetooth Sierra Fn key seems to be mapped to Menu key so it cripples its use greatly.

I assume the Fn key should be a "dead" key but I'm not a specialist :)

Any solution welcomed

All cynicism aside, I had a terrible time getting my SU-8W to pair. The attempt kept timing out at random moments, and at first the Fn key didn't want to stay active. Had the exact same problem on a buddy's N800/SU-8W. So, no, there doesn't appear to be a bias toward Nokia devices.

Re: Stowaway Universal Keyboard?

Texrat, I had zero problem pairing N800 with SU-8W. The Fn key stays active until I press it again. Note that you must press ok on the N800 then type the code.

I had some success in creating working xkb config for N800 / stoaway Sierra keyboard.
