Re: linux and maemo for dummies?
For basic Linux command line stuff, you could start with http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/cli.html - most of this will apply to maemo.

Go to the links in my signature. Also:
google.com/linux ...and start asking questions. Or wikipedia. You'll learn more and faster by asking questions and getting answers yourself than by anyone here spoon-feeding them to you. Download and burn a couple of 'live' Linux distro CDs. With those, you can try out and learn Linux basics risk-free (run directly from the CD, no mods to your computer) or go ahead and insta!l in a dual boot setup. And of course you have a N900 to learn with.. |

Re: linux and maemo for dummies?
If you are a book reader, I found "Think Unix" written long ago, to be a great help. It's geared to people who are going to be using Unix and variants (he used Red Hat for all the examples), not programmers or developers.

Re: linux and maemo for dummies?
I'm new to linux, too and asked a similar question back in november. Got a lot of good replies. However, administrators moved it to off-topic, so you may not have found it here.
