Re: changing message tone

Settings>Profiles>SMS Alert (for the General profile)

You have to scroll down beyond Ringing tone to see the SMS Alert setting.

Hi Torres,

Not sure if you thinking ringtones can only be AAC or not ?? Mp3's can be used as ringtones.

Settings > Profiles > Ringing tone > More

Then choose the tone you want from the device memory and hit Done. I've an mp3 audio file as my ringtone and it works fine.

Can you set a different SMS/alert tone per contact sending you the SMS?

No something i've noticed in the device's basic guise.

Deos anyone know where the N900 stores the text, email and IM message sounds?

It stores the ringtones in the N900/Audio Clips/Ringtones

But I can't find the other sounds anywhere within the filesystem

Thanks
