How do I access hidden directories?

For example it says browse to /usr/share/hildon-desktop/ how do I do that? From my pc?

on your phone using xterm:
"cd /usr/share/hildon-desktop/"

if you want to use your pc you have to set up a ssh-connection. there are many instructions out there. just search for it.

I used SSH to patch my iPod touch, so it should be the same. But ssh is only over network connection. When i did some tweaking on winCE gps navigator there was a plugin for Total commander to access hidden system directories using USB cable maybe it is possible on N900 also? SSH is terribly slow...
