Filemanager on meego ?
 

hello, im not sure if this is asked or cleared before, but i really want to know that if there is a filemanager or filebroswer on the meego or lets say the n9 or n950 ??
those who have used the devices can you tell that plz, and if there is no filemanager how do they access the files from the phone ?

yes, this question has been asked before somewhere, but i dont remember where exactly, maybe in the "n9 is here" thread. when i have read it, there was noone who said definitaly if it is there or not, i also never have seen a video or artivle showing the file manager... but, it could be possible, that "documents" in the main menu could be a file manager. the system folders could be invisible there, remember that it is a consumer device... or maybe if you activate the dev mode (see manual), you could get access to a file manager... but if there is no file manager out of the box anyway, you can install one like on the n900 as soon as someone has developed one, which shouldnt take much time i think ;)

I can't say if there will be a filemanager when N9 is released. But the n950 does not have one. With the documents application you can do some simple things. At the moment if I need to do file management, I plug the device to a computer in storage mode or use terminal.

Anyway, if filemanager is missing out of the box on launch date, I'm quite sure one will be created by the community. I've seen such project discussion in MeeGo forums.

There's no File Manager built in (I have an N9 and there's nothing there). The Search feature allows you to find files that you've downloaded but doesn't offer any file manager functionality.

I'm developing a native file manager app which is currently in Alpha. It's at http://projects.developer.nokia.com/filemanager and will eventually include cloud storage connection and text editing.

how did u manage to get an N9???
i did check the the link & u seem to be a developer..but as far as i remember only the N950 was given to the developers..Do u have both u mean?? :confused:

I also work for Nokia as a trainer (during the day ;)) so I have a prototype N9 for work.

that's amazing nikrolls...thanks for that file manager program ur making..So are u also under an NDA with nokia since ur having an N9??

Yes there are NDAs but it's ok to talk about bits of it. It's quite similar to what you get on the N950 but so much more polished! A lovely device to use.

@ nik....how long does the battery last after taken from from a full charge??

It's pretty acceptable. Obviously this is a smartphone but MeeGo is a very 'light' operating system and treats the battery well -- I'm not left wanting and can easily get a full day.
