Maemo 5 and binary SMS - Vulnerable to SIM malware?

Does anyone know how susceptible Maemo 5 would be to the remote attack described here: https://srlabs.de/rooting-sim-cards/?

Defenses #2 "Handset SMS firewall" shows that the operating system should have control over what happens with these received binary SMS. Does Fremantle process them? Would they need even need to be blocked, if so can it be done?

Perhaps this would be a good starting point, if one is needed: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65396

Re: Maemo 5 and binary SMS - Vulnerable to SIM malware?

As i understand the situation, this depend a lot on which type of SIM you are using, more to how the handset handle the SMS.

Seems that old SIM card with old DES crypt are very vulnerable due to available exploit to decipher the keys.

But newer SIM using newer and better cryptography are not impacted by this (yet).

 ?? Anyway to determine when the operator does nasty things is welcome. Hoping someone gonna delve deep into it:)
