(Solved) CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode

How do i lock cssu hildon-desktop to use landscape mode permanently?

Remember the mainframeterminals from the 70s or arcademachines from the early 80s ? they also were in portraitmode... and always with a black background with orange, green or white graphics.

in the 80s we got modern looking landscapeterminals with colour :)
- apple classic was the last computer sold that had a screen with portraitmode in black and white...

You can fixate it from the menu afair.

You know, you are not supposed to use CSSU's hildon-desktop without CSSU. Otherwise some compatibility breakages may appear.

Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode

This is what I've done:
1. Installed orientation lock applet as freemangordon said (in my case, by installing CSSU);
2. Set lock to landscape only;
3. Uninstalled orientation lock applet.

That way I do not waste screen estate in the status bar or in the status menu. My phone is permanently locked in landscape, although some apps (most notably Phone) force it to portrait temporarily.

I believe orientation lock will work without CSSU but I'm not sure. I have a faint recollection of having successfully tried that but I have tried so many things that I may misremember.

Edit:
Once your phone is permanently locked in landscape, you may consider removing rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait. It is for reading SMS in portrait mode.

Launch Phone. Click on top bar, Turning control, Display orientation, Landscape, problem solved

I know, I know. I prefer Phone in portrait anyway. It was just to illustrate that apps can force portrait should they wish to, even when the rest of the phone is locked in landscape.

There are gconftool's for this if you don't wish to install and remove the lock applet.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Features

You should have full CSSU not just modified-h-d as per acrean.

Oh ok. Would mention it as a feature not a bug, carry on
