OsmAnd~ is just the open source version of OsmAnd with the download limitions stripped. It's all open source, perfectly legal. If you like OsmAnd, then you can either donate directly or buy the Plus version (which is not open source, and not available from f-droid!) and get some extras.

I find the openstreenmap maps often better and way more up-to-date than either google maps and Here maps, at least in the Netherlands. As it is now, OsmAnd~ is my tool of choice. Jolla's bundled maps is bitmap, online, non-navigation, non-OSM variety.
